moving from the virtual to the physical

This Wednesday will be a first for many of us. Anj, Bobbie, Deb and her husband Jeff are flying into Seattle in the morning and coming up to the Sunshine Coast to join myself, Sarah, Neritia (who I love already!), Stephanie, and Idelette for a blogger's PJ party prior to the start of the Path on Thursday.

If you are the praying sort, please hold all of us in the Light, that we may each receive and give the various gifts that need to be exchanged over the next week. I'm surpringly excited about being able to hang all together.

I sent Robert an email last night, then logged on to the blog to find his post.

Here is the text of the email I sent:

Robert - I didn't know the world series was on until someone told me tonight they were pretty sure the red sox had won the world series.

Just thought you should know who you are keeping company with these days.

A curse is laid to rest

The Boston Red Sox just won their first title since 1918.
To me, the best part about this is that I know that somewhere in New England tonight, a kid is going to bed feeling like a champion for the first time.

conversation as sport

Do you ever find yourself in a conversation that feels more like a rock scramble than a give and take of ideas? That was my experience this morning. The topic was a relatively difficult one (the human body as essentially whole and moving always towards perfection and what does that philosphy mean for those who experience mental illness) and I felt a high desire to impress the person I was talking with. The result of the whole thing is that I didn't listen very well - because of my need to impress, because of my confusion around the ideas and because of a low level sense of dissonance and dis-ease with the ideas being discussed.

Speak to be understood; listen to understand. Conversation should be an Olympic sport.

House of Doc

Went to a great concert tonight. Band's name is House of Doc and as their promo blurb says, they are "made up of three siblings and two in-laws...standing in the tradition of the old time family band. Hard hitting four part vocals with an unorthodox blend of Folkd, Blues, Celtic, and Bluegrass influences, culminating in a truly Canadian genre - Prairiegrass".

together or separately?

Robert and I are about to get the original goat blog up and running. I've been thinking lately about how much is enough and ideas around living in balance. Mike has been thinking about these things too with his Gospel Experiment. I think the goat blog fits right in.

I'd like to get a sense of whether or not people want to do their goat purchasing privately or whether there is any interest in doing some pooled purchasing. If people want to purchase together, I'll put a button on the side and undertake (a big lawyer word) to use all the funds to purchase livestock or school supplies or medical supplies or whatever else we agree upon.
